What's the difference between Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and Public Housing?
Public Housing assistance is where someone receives assistance within in one of SHA's communities (apartments). These communities are owned and managed through the Housing Authority. You are placed as there is availability upon qualifying. The Section 8 Voucher Program gives you a little more freedom to choose your own community within Sumter County. Rentals are privately owned.
